Luckily, I decided to check it tonight.

Thanks for the compliment about our house. We built it in 2000 and added the solar panels (love 'em!) in 2009.

Back to the turkey recipe--I think the gravy was sweet because of the maple syrup, but if I make it again, I'll try to get some bourbon. We happened to have a full, unopened bottle of whiskey that I decided to use.

I make my own kahlua occasionally and I use bourbon when I do.J-Kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02661197854351527686noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2332346662168035543.post-46140680620190946932012-11-23T17:27:14.962-05:002012-11-23T17:27:14.962-05:00I love it with the bourbon and with the bourbon it...I love it with the bourbon and with the bourbon it does not seem too sweet for me--however this year I did drain the inside of the turkey that had the juices from the fruit into the gravy liquid and it gave it a tangy citrus addition--I think I prefer not have the citrus in the gravy. It is the best ,turkey, however and so moist--the bourbon infused the turkey and I love the flavor!nannykimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09904490730187017812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2332346662168035543.post-30634360327444514632012-11-23T02:43:42.690-05:002012-11-23T02:43:42.690-05:00I made this today for Thanksgiving, and it was the...I made this today for Thanksgiving, and it was the best turkey ever. I used whiskey instead of bourbon.

I made the gravy and it was good, but a little sweet. I prefer regular turkey gravy.

I think you could tweak the recipe and leave out the syrup and still have a super moist turkey.

We also made the stuffing with Italian sausage and cornbread, and it was wonderful.
